Privacy policy and terms of use

Effective October 6, 2026

This page explains what information Great Lakes AI Institute LLC (“we,” “us”) collects through greatlakesai.institute and what we do with it, followed by the terms for using the site. We have tried to keep it short and specific to how this site actually works.

Privacy policy

What this site does not do

This website has no account sign-ups, no newsletter, and no advertising. It does not set cookies, and it does not use analytics or tracking tools. Its fonts and images are served from this site, not from outside services.

Information you choose to send us

  • Email. If you write to info@greatlakesai.institute, we receive your name, email address, and whatever you include in your message. Our email is provided by Google Workspace.
  • Booking a call. The “Schedule a free AI Reality Check” buttons take you to a scheduling page run by Fantastical (Flexibits). When you book, you give them and us your name, email address, and any details you add. Fantastical’s own privacy policy applies to that page.
  • Event follow-up form. Some event pages on this site, such as our resource kit for a talk, include a short form for requesting the slides and follow-up notes. It asks for your name, email address, and organization, and optionally a question or a task you would like AI to help with. The form is processed by our website host, Netlify, and sent to us by email. We use it only to send what you asked for and to reply to your question. We do not add you to a mailing list.
  • Free resources. Our checklists, worksheets, and guides download directly from this website. We do not ask you for any information to download them.

Technical information

Like nearly every website, this one is hosted by a company (Netlify) whose servers keep standard technical logs of requests, such as IP address, browser type, the page requested, and the time. These logs are used to deliver the site and keep it secure. We do not use them to identify or profile visitors.

How we use information

We use what you send us to reply to you, schedule and hold conversations you request, and provide services you engage us for. We do not sell or rent personal information, and we do not share it with others for their own marketing. We share it only with the service providers named above as needed to run this site and our communications, or when the law requires it.

If you become a client, information shared during an engagement is handled under our agreement with you, which controls if it differs from this page.

How long we keep it

We keep correspondence and scheduling records for as long as they are useful for our relationship with you and for ordinary business records, and then delete them.

Your choices

You can ask us to show you, correct, or delete the personal information we hold about you by emailinginfo@greatlakesai.institute. We will respond within a reasonable time. Please avoid sending confidential, financial, health, or other sensitive information by email before we have talked.

Children

This site is intended for adults acting for their organizations. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13.

Terms of use

Using this site

By using greatlakesai.institute, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the site.

Information, not professional advice

The content on this site and in our free resources is general information about using artificial intelligence in organizations. It is not legal, tax, accounting, financial, or cybersecurity advice, and reading it does not create a client relationship. Decisions about your organization’s data, policies, and compliance should be made with the appropriate qualified professional. Engagements with us are governed by a separate written agreement.

Our free resources

You are welcome to download, print, and share our free checklists, worksheets, and guides within your own organization, and to use them in your own planning and staff discussions. Please keep our name on them. You may not sell them, republish them as your own, or use them in a paid product or service without our written permission. Everything else on this site, including text, design, and images, belongs to Great Lakes AI Institute LLC or is used with permission.

Links to other sites

This site links to services and sites we do not control, including Fantastical, LinkedIn, and Facebook. Their own terms and privacy policies apply, and we are not responsible for their content or practices.

No warranties

We work to keep this site accurate and available, but it and its resources are provided “as is.” AI tools change quickly, and we cannot promise that every page is complete or current, or that the site will always be available.

Limits on liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Great Lakes AI Institute LLC is not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of this website or its free resources.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Ohio.

Changes to this page

If our practices change, for example if we add a contact form or website analytics, we will update this page and its effective date before the change takes effect.
